When you register for a Tennessee sales and use tax account, if you are a retailer you will automatically be issued a Tennessee Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Resale.  You may also use a Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption, available on the Department’s website, by marking resale and including your Tennessee sales and use tax account number.

If you have a Tennessee Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Resale issued after March 2017, you may access it through your TNTAP account by following these steps:

  1. Log on to TNTAP
  2. Select your sales tax account
  3. Click the Correspondence tab
  4. Certificates can be found under the Unread Letters section. Click View Letters.

Tennessee Sales and Use Tax Certificates of Resale issued before March 2017 may not be available in TNTAP. This does not mean that you do not have an active certificate, but it may have not been published to your TNTAP account. If you follow the steps outlined above and cannot access your Tennessee Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Resale, please call 615-253-0600 to have someone publish a copy of your resale certificate to your TNTAP account.
