ACCEPTABLE PROOF DOCUMENTS

Below are acceptable proof documents for Proof of Garaging, Proof of Prior Insurance and Proof of Residency (Additional Driver Discovery). Please read and understand thoroughly, as there is specific, required information provided.


What to do when any type of proof is requested: Fax the proof requested to 1-800-950-5666 or email information to verification@progressive.com with your agent code and insured last name in the subject line.


Proof of Garaging Address

The document must show the insured’s name and a complete address (no PO Boxes) matching the garaging address on the policy.


Acceptable documents include:


  • Current homeowners insurance summary/declarations page, including Progressive HomeAdvantage (PHA)
  • W-2 from the most recent calendar year (accepted January through May)
  • Progressive Auto policy (must be active or cancelled in the last 31 days and have nooutstanding POGA follow-up items)


Acceptable only if dated within the last 60 days

  • Mortgage coupon
  • Paycheck stub
  • Property Tax bill
  • Federal or State government documents such as Social Security statement, quarterly taxstatements, etc.
  • Tuition bill showing room and board (current semester only for students age 24 andyounger).
  • Transcript that reflects current class enrollment


If none of the above is available, two (2) or more of the following are acceptable if dated within the last 60 days, unless specifically noted:

  • Two different utility bills from either the gas, electric, sewer, water, cable, or home telephonecompanies. For example, one bill from the gas company and one bill from the electric company.
    • We’ll not accept two consecutive months of the same utility bill.
    • Bills that state “Final bill” will not be accepted.
    • Cell phone bills are unacceptable.
  • Driver's License issued within the past 6 months
  • Renter's insurance declarations page in most states, including PHA. Must be dated at least 30days prior to the POGA request date.


Proof of Prior Insurance

One of the following documents will be accepted.

  • Declarations page
  • Nonrenewal notice
  • Current renewal offer or notice, if expiration date and Progressive policy start date match
  • Recent bill Identification (ID) cards
  • Monthly policy (first and sixth month Declaration pages)
  • Certificate of liability insurance
  • Cancellation notice, unless for renewal payment. (Grace periods aren't permitted.)


The following information must clearly show the policy dates and limits of liability. In addition, we can

only accept proof that shows the:

  • Named insured or spouse shown as the policyholder or a listed driver
  •  Dates of coverage
  • Carrier's name
  • Policy number
  • Liability limits


Proof of Residency (Additional Driver Discovery)

Valid documentation must show the drivers full name and complete address.

  • Current homeowners insurance declarations page , including Progressive Home Advantage (PHA)
  • W2 from the most recent calendar year (accepted January through May)
  • Progressive Auto policy ((must be active or cancelled in the last 31 days and have no outstanding POGA follow-up items)


Acceptable only if dated within the last 60 days:

  • Mortgage coupon
